Chubby Dried Mixes are a 50/50 mix of Dried Mealworms and Dried Black Soldier Fly. This mix is packed with both protein and calcium, which are both vital to chickens & birds.
Chubby Dried Mealworms are packed with a whopping 53% protein and 28% essential fats that are vital to help a chicken's immune system during molting season and will help in rapid feather growth. Our high-energy treat will be a welcome addition to your flock's diet.
The high protein content in our dried mealworms can help produce bigger and more flavorsome eggs, which makes them the ideal chicken treat. The wild birds in your backyard will devour Chubby Mealworms throughout the year and will feed their young during the breeding season when the extra protein boost is essential.
These amazing grubs are comparable to our Chubby dried mealworms but have the added benefit of a higher calcium value. In fact, they have 23 to 61 times more calcium than other commonly fed feeder insects and naturally feature a well-balanced calcium-phosphorus ratio. Research has shown that natural feed with balanced Ca:P ratios increases animal health and contributes to stronger bones and shiny feathers.
Calcium is especially important for laying birds such as chickens. Lack of calcium can result in poor laying, and soft shells and can cause behavior problems such as egg eating as the chicken tries to recoup the much-needed calcium. Feeding the Black Soldier Fly Larvae as a treat is an excellent way to increase these vital nutrients and we can assure you, they will soon become a favorite!
